The big one…. the Marathon. If measured correctly, it’s 26.2 miles of gruelling, rhythmical pounding of the streets. The ultimate endurance challenge … for the normal person. But once you’ve done one, you continue to slip further down that slope … to perhaps an ultra- marathon or an Iron Man triathlon. Apparently. I wouldn’t know because I steadfastly refuse to ever un more than 5 kilometres. I am happy to remain at the top of the slope and not slip.
And yet many people sign up for marathon each year. More that 15,000 this weekend in Brighton. It’s a remarkable event and an impressive show of bravery and sheer guts.
The sun was out and the temperatures up. Nice for spectators, not so great for the runners. And especially if, in what I can only assume was a rash commitment made one night in a pub many months ago, you had decided to run it with a huge teddybear on your back. I think these images sum it up …
#21310 … I don’t know who you are, but bravo… I salute you! I hope you managed to raise a ton of money for Children with Cancer.
A few more pictures from the day below. A massive congratulations to all who took part. I hope you have enjoyed a couple of days of rest with those blistered feet up!
I’m with you Charlie, I did do a couple of 10k many years ago but try to avoid running anywhere these days. The guy with the teddy is seriously hardcore, like you I hope he raised a shed load of money. Great images, thanks for sharing 👍
By the way I’m sure he’d love your photos for his fundraising pages they tell a story
